ARTICLE 6 – FIGHTER'S ATTIRE
All fighters must wear open-finger gloves, which are approved and provided by the BFC™
organizing committee. For the kickboxing bouts, fighters must wear 6 ounce boxing gloves.
Gloves and hand wraps will be provided by the BFC™ organizing committee. Taping and
bandaging the fist is prohibited. Taping and bandaging the fingers is permitted, subject to the
referee's approval. A fighter's hand dressings must be inspected and approved by the
referee and rules committee prior to fighting.
Upon the fighter's choice, uniform, kneepads, elbow pads, shin guards, taping and ankle
supports (neoprene only, no metal supports) may be worn during the match, subject to the
prior inspection and approval by the referee. Gloves, mouthpiece and groin protector are
mandatory for all fighters. Fighters are not permitted to wear shoes.
Fingernails and toenails must be trimmed and kept short. No application of oil, ointment,
spray, massaging cream, hair cream, or any other substances are permitted to be applied to
any part of the fighter's body and hands before and during the bout. When application of
these substances is discovered, the fighter will be disqualified.
The discretional use of Vaseline around the nose and eyes shall be permitted and must be
subjected to referee approval prior to each round. However, the use of Vaseline, grease or
any other substance on the arms, legs or body on any of the contestants is strictly forbidden.
